TUTORIALS:EFFECTS

Tire Blowout with Reactor

Step 1.  First you will need to load the Reactor toolbar.  Go to the Customize menu and choose Customize User

Interface.  Select the Toolbars tab, pick the Reactor_light.cui and click Load, as in the image below.

Step 2.  Now create a box primitive in the top viewport.  Then create a torus primitive in the front viewport similar to the one

shown in the image below.  The torus will be the tire that we use reactor to blowout.

Step 3.  Next we setup the reactor simulation.  On the reactor toolbar choose the top two icons and

create a Rigid Body collection and Cloth collection in the top view.  Then select the torus and apply

a Cloth modifer to it, it's the sixth icon from the top on the reactor toolbar.  Now select the Rigid body collection

and go to the modify panel.  Click ADD and select the box01 primitive.  Now do the same with the Cloth collection

except ADD the torus.  By making the torus a cloth body it will act as a tire deflating over time, a tire blowout.

 See image below.

Step 4.  Now we need to set the properties for the torus.  Go to the Utility panel and select reactor.

Under the animation export option set the Start Frame to 10.  This way we can add our own beginning key frames and

mix then with reactor's simulated key frames.  Also give the torus a Mass value of 5.

Step 5.  Now let's add our own beginning animation to give reactor something to start with.  Select the torus in the front

viewport and turn on Autokey.  Drag the time slider to keyframe 15 and move the torus forward.  Also on keyframe 15

add some rotation to the torus, like a tire going around.  See the image below.

Step 6.  Finally, we need to test the simulation in the Reactor Preview Window.  On the Reactor toolbar

choose the icon Show In Window: it is highlighted in the image below, on the lower left.  This will bring up a

Preview Window.  C hoose the the Physics Menu and select Realtime.  Then choose the Simulation menu and select Play.

After testing this simulation you can then set those keyframes to the timeline.  Choose the perform simulation icon

on the reactor toolbar.  It's circled in red below.  This will create keyframes on the max timeline.

Just a final image below.  The key here is to have fun!
